Mozart – Eine Kleine Nachtmusik (K.525)
Mozart – Oboe Quartet in F (K.370)
Mozart – Horn Quintet in E flat (K.407)
The ‘little serenade’ that Mozart dashed off as an occasional piece in 1787 (and left for his wife to publish after his death) eventually became one of the most famous of all his works. Just as diverting are two other chamber works featuring wind instruments, where Mozart foregrounds the expressive and agile qualities of the oboe and the stirring virtuosity of the horn. The superb Experience players of the OAE play all three works on period instruments by candlelight
